Detailed Review of the 30″ Char-Broil Electric Vertical Smoker
Design and Durability (4.0/5.0)
This electric vertical smoker by Char-Broil features a well-insulated cover that looks nice. Its power cord is quite short, but you can always connect it to a power outlet extension. One thing noticeable is the door which is not sturdy enough to maintain a good seal once the heat increases. As a work around, you can add window pane locks to the side of the door opening. It’s necessary to have the smoker locked perfectly, because the door tends to warp on all directions once heat is increased. The thermometer that comes along with the unit is also a good addition as it helps you monitor the temperature of the smoker.
Ease of Use (4.5/5.0)
Like all other smokers, this unit requires a lot of familiarity. First time users need to thoroughly read the user manual to fully understand how this electric smoker works. Once you get the chance to use it a few times, you’ll soon notice that it’s simple to use. As a suggestion, I suggest you try preheating the smoker to about 300 degrees Fahrenheit for the chips to begin smoking. After which, you can again set the smoking temperature to around 230 degrees. Usage may vary every time depending on the food or meat you’re cooking in the smoker. Therefore, it’s advisable to take note of the procedures you’ve tried to find the perfect way of smoking your food.
This electric smoker does a good job of maintaining temperature, but falls short in producing enough smoke. I therefore suggest preheating the unit by maximizing its temperature and then turning down the control. So far that way, it works fine in getting just the right temperature and amount of smoke needed. It also does a good job of producing quality, smoked food, but it lacks a strong smoky flavor.
The 30″ Char-Broil Electric Vertical Smoker is very affordable at $128.99. This is perfect to those who are new to electric smokers or are not sure yet on the type of smoker they’d want to use. It does not have the perfect build or design, but it does a good job in producing quality, smoked food.
- Sturdy, well-insulated
- Quite easy to use
- Performs well in maintaining heat temperature
- Good enough in producing quality, smoked food
- Price is very affordable
- Food produced lacks a strong smoky flavor
- Its door requires improvement as it does not maintain a good seal
The 30″ Char-Broil Electric Vertical Smoker is a good smoker to start with, most especially to those who are quite new to smokers. It requires a lot of familiarity for one to produce a quality, smoked food. It’s therefore advisable to keep a record on the temperatures or procedures you’ve tried to get the best out of the unit.
